QUALITY
The Circular Design Center (CDC), which opened in December 2023 as the fourth domestic base in Japan, was established with the aim of promoting and advancing plastic recycling through co-creation with stakeholders. CDC has introduced various equipment for measuring the physical properties of recycled plastic materials. By integrating the accumulated information from plastic waste generators, plastic recycling businesses, and domestic and international manufacturers that use recycled plastic materials, the center aims to build a database that connects the previously fragmented information related to plastic recycling.
All equipment and procedures at CDC comply with ISO standards. To suppress systematic errors and conduct highly accurate analyses, the measurement environment is consistently maintained at a room temperature of 23°C and 50% humidity. This setup ensures the provision of more reliable data.

Injection Molding Machine
The test pieces use Type A1, compliant with ISO 20753 and JIS K7139. The mold used is Type A, compliant with ISO K7152-1.

Notching Machine
This machine performs side cutting and notching on the molded test pieces.

Charpy Impact Tester
By introducing a notch into the test specimen to concentrate stress, the specimen is broken to evaluate the material's toughness and brittleness.

MFR (Melt Flow Rate)
Compliant with ISO 1133.
Measurements are conducted at the optimal temperature and load for each type of resin.
[Temperature & Load for PP/PE/PS]
PP: 230°C, 2.16 kg
PE: 190°C, 2.16 kg
PS: 200°C, 5 kg

Tensile and Bending Tester
Using tensile testing in accordance with ISO 527, we measure tensile yield stress and tensile breaking strain.
Using bending testing in accordance with ISO 178, we measure flexural strength and flexural modulus.

Specific Gravity Measurement
Compliant with ISO 1133.
Specific gravity can be measured using the water displacement method.

X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Analyzer
Capable of identifying and measuring the content of elements heavier than magnesium (Mg). Under the RoHS Directive, the analyzer can measure the following 6 out of the 10 restricted substances:
[Maximum Allowable Concentrations of Target Substances]
Lead (Pb): 0.1 wt%
Mercury (Hg): 0.1 wt%
Cadmium (Cd): 0.01 wt%
Hexavalent Chromium (Cr6+): 0.1 wt%
Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB): 0.1 wt%
Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE): 0.1 wt%

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FT-IR)
Analyzes the structure and composition of samples to check for contamination by foreign resins or substances.

Test Pieces
Notches and side cuts are added to the pieces afterward according to the requirements of each measurement.
