The Ministry of the Environment has announced the results of its public call for proposals for the "Resource Recycling Acceleration Project (Model Project)," which targets resource waste that is difficult to recycle, such as composite materials, incinerator ash, and construction waste. Nine projects were selected, including Asahi Kasei Medical Co., Ltd.'s "Project to Establish and Demonstrate a Resource Recycling Model for Used Dialyzers in Collaboration with Local Medical Institutions and Local Companies."
Our company will participate in this project as a co-creation partner. Dialyzers (artificial kidneys) are medical devices that are used and discarded in large quantities daily in medical settings, and until now, many of them have been difficult to recycle. In this project, we aim to build and demonstrate a resource circulation model that comprehensively realizes everything from the collection and sorting of used dialyzers to their recycling, in cooperation with local medical institutions and companies.
Leveraging our expertise cultivated in the field of plastic resource recycling, we will work with Asahi Kasei Medical Corporation to contribute to the social implementation of resource recycling schemes in the medical field.
The knowledge gained through this project is expected to have potential applications not only in the medical field but also in other fields where the recycling of composite materials is considered difficult. We will continue to actively promote partnerships aimed at realizing regional resource recycling.
